What a great weekend to celebrate 160th anniversary of Donald Hay sailing from Kingston to Queenstown! We had 16 boats from different parts of the South Island racing down to Kingston on Friday, and 20 joining the Donald Hay race back to Queenstown on Saturday.
The weather was perfect with just enough wind for smooth sailing. Reprieve finished the race on Saturday in just under 3 hours which must have been one of the fastest times in the history of Donald Hay Regatta. She got the line honours but unfortunately the result was not enough to take the win on handicap. The local beauty, Jade II, was celebrating the double victory at the end – being the fastest boat on both days!
